Ingleside Sweet Virginia Rose
This month’s sweet wine feature is an unusual blend of 63% Chardonnay, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot. The fruit is harvested and fermented on the skins just long enough to impart the color not long enough to gather bitter tannins.
In the glass this wine presents with light strawberry color which carries through to the nose which also includes raspberry and a little lemon grass. The sharp attack leads to a lush midpalate filled with watermelon, strawberry and rhubarb. The finish lingers nicely on the rear of the palate. Pair with hard cheeses, cheesecake or simply enjoy it on all by itself.
