2011 West Wind Riesling

2011 West Wind Farm Riesling

The 2011 West Wind Farm Riesling is a great example of what can be done with this German grape in Southwest Virginia.  Very light straw color in the glass, the nose is filled with pineapple and cling peaches.  The bright, vibrant attack includes an undercurrent of honeysuckle; the midpalate expands nicely to expose more citrus notes leading to a finish that lingers slightly with pear highlights.

With just over 2% residual sugar, this wine is outstanding on its own.  It will also pair nicely with spicy seafood or vegetarian dishes.  Especially grilled spiced shrimp!
